Commanders released WR Marcus Kemp
Had Kemp not spent time with the Chiefs over the last few years, it’s possible he never would’ve signed with the Commanders. Competing for a spot in a deep receiver room that includes Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Curtis Samuel, and Byron Pringle left Kemp with an uphill climb to make the roster.
Commanders signed WR Marcus Kemp.
Kemp has bounced between the Chiefs' practice squad and active roster for the past few seasons. He also had a cup of coffee in Miami. Kemp rarely saw action on offense in Kansas City but was a consistent presence on their special teams unit. Following Eric Bieniemy to Washington, he will serve as a depth option at receiver and a likely contributor on special teams.
Chiefs elevated WR Marcus Kemp ahead of the Super Bowl.
Kemp should serve as nothing more than emergency depth at wide receiver and could still ultimately end up a game-day inactive for the big game. Further clarification will come via Kansas City's inactives 90 minutes prior to kick.
Chiefs placed WR Marcus Kemp on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reports Kemp has tested positive, and is not merely a close contact. In and of himself, Kemp is not a big loss for the Chiefs' offense, but we will now have some close-contact anxiety with Tyreek Hill and company. Hopefully this is the last you hear of it.
