Luke McCown
Player News
Luke McCown has re-signed with the Saints for two-years worth $3 million.
McCown appeared in eight games, making one start, in 2015 for the Saints with Drew Brees dealing with various ailments. He has spent three seasons as the backup to Brees and will do so again for the next two.
Luke McCown visited with the Colts on Thursday.
The need for a backup behind budding star Andrew Luck is a huge need for the Colts and that is where McCown comes into the picture. He is one of the better reserve options available on the market right now so brining him makes sense for Indy. He will be 35 before the season starts but still has life in his arm.
Luke McCown (back) is expected to be placed on season-ending injured reserve.
So much for his Verizon commercials that claim that a backup is always ready to go when needed, as the career backup will need season-ending back surgery. He seems like a great guy though and everyone will be rooting for him to make a speedy recovery for 2016.
Luke McCown (lower back) is seeing a specialist Monday and his season is in doubt.
McCown made his claim to fame in a commercial earlier this year and seemed to be content playing behind Drew Brees. He is having some back issues and will see a specialist to figure out what his next steps are. With Brees healthy this is not a big deal if McCown is forced to miss an extended period of time.
