Bowanko signed a contract with the Lions on Monday, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Bowanko joined the Redskins in November and started the final three games of the season. The 27-year-old figures to provide interior depth for the Lions' offensive line.
Luke Bowanko (hip) will start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Bowanko has started 14 of his 22 career games with the Jaguars but was limited to just six games last season. When finally taken off the PUP list he will add depth along the Jaguars offensive line.
Luke Bowanko hurt the labrum in his right hip and will have surgery.
Bowanko had early success in his rookie year, however in 2015 he was relegated to bench duties. Especially while trying to recover from injury, he will have his work cut out for him when trying to win a job out of camp.

Bowanko was a sixth round selection by the Jaguars in this year\'s NFL draft and is competing for the starting center position with Mike Brewster. There is little chance Bowanko is going to win the job, but any chance he had is just got slimmer with this recent news. He should be considered day-to-day until he is evaluated in the upcoming days.
