LeGarrette Blount retired from the NFL after nine seasons.

Blount hadn't appeared in a game since 2018. He played for five different teams, with four of his nine seasons coming in New England. Blount closes out his career with 6,306 rushing yards, 56 touchdowns, and a 4.2 YPC. He led the league in scoring in 2016. Blount is a three-time Super Bowl winner, winning two with the Patriots and one with the Eagles in 2017.

Blount worked out for the Raiders on Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Blount hasn't taken a snap since the 2018 season, when he played all 16 regular-season games for the Lions. It's unclear what sort of gig Blount could potentially fill in Oakland's backfield, which includes Josh Jacobs, Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington, but the veteran has historically played a short-yardage/goal-line role.

Blount rushed 11 times for 15 yards during Sunday's victory over Green Bay.

A reliable yet underwhelming veteran presence is about all Blount has been for Detroit in 2018, and that reputation held true Sunday as the plodding runner failed to clear 2.0 yards per carry for the ninth time in 16 contests. Given how effective the 27-year-old Zach Zenner has been over the final four games of the season, it seems unlikely the 32-year-old Blount -- who will be an unrestricted free agent in March -- is high on Lions management's list of priorities to be re-signed this offseason. In fact, there may not be much of a market at all for an aging tailback who averaged just 2.8 yards per carry behind a strong offensive line that allowed Kerryon Johnson (knee) to average 5.4 YPC and Zenner 5.1 YPC.

Blount (knee) is active Sunday against Green Bay.

Blount was limited in practice each day this week, but the knee issue won't prevent him from suiting up for the regular-season finale. His workload is more of a question mark, however, as he's seen 22 or less offensive snaps in each of the last three weeks. Look for Blount to once again split time with the likes of Theo Riddick and Zach Zenner, which unquestionably limits his fantasy ceiling.
