Eagles reworked the contract of OT Lane Johnson.
The five-time All-Pro tackle will make an additional $8 million over the next two seasons including an additional $30 million in guaranteed money. That brings his ledger to $48 million, $40 million of which is guaranteed, over the coming two seasons. The Eagles continue to reward the mainstays of their roster following a Super Bowl Championship. The updated contract now ties Johnson to the Eagles through the 2027 season, effectively serving as a one-year extension.
Eagles RT Lane Johnson told the Philadelphia Inquirer that “four or five” players on the team were dealing with illnesses.
Defensive tackle Jalen Carter missed Wednesday’s practice with an undisclosed illness, and rookie Quinyon Mitchell is reportedly dealing with laryngitis. In addition to Johnson, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio also mentioned multiple players dealing with illnesses, but none are expected to miss Sunday’s game as a result. These illnesses will likely prove to be little more than a footnote on Super Bowl weekend when all is said and done, but it is worth noting as we draw closer to game day.
Eagles RT Lane Johnson said “I’m definitely playing next season, win or lose.”
The 12-year veteran and six-time Pro Bowler finds himself back in the Super Bowl for the second time in three seasons as the Eagles look to spoil Kansas City’s bid for a three-peat. Johnson struggled through a myriad of injuries in the middle of his career but has remained relatively healthy for each of the previous four seasons, potentially adding to his decision to return for his 13th season in 2025.
Eagles RT Lane Johnson cleared concussion protocol and will play in Week 6 against the Browns.
Johnson missed Week 4 with a concussion. Philly got their bye last week, giving the stalwart right tackle plenty of time to clear the protocol. He is good to go for a tough matchup versus Cleveland’s vaunted pass-rush.
