Ravens LB L.J. Fort suffered a knee injury in Saturday's preseason game and will miss the entire 2021 season.
Fort has a torn ACL with "no further damage." He'll miss all of 2021 but is expected to make a full recovery. Fort, who started eight games last year, wasn't a roster lock after being nontendered this offseason. The nine-year veteran turns 32 in January.
Ravens re-signed ILB L.J. Fort to a one-year, $1.1 million contract.
A restricted free agent, Fort wasn't tendered an offer last month, but he is presumably returning for less than the "low" amount of $2.133 million. Although he's on the wrong side of 30, Fort was actually a valuable role player last season, standing up the run as an off-ball linebacker. He should slot in for 300-400 snaps in 2021.
The Ravens did not tender restricted free agent LB L.J. Fort, making him a free agent.
Fort started eight games and appeared in 14 for the Ravens last season and actually graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 9 off-ball linebacker with elite marks as a run defender. Fort would've made $2.133 million on the lowest tender, but Baltimore couldn't make it happen due to the salary cap. Fort is already 31 years old.
Fort recorded 35 tackles (21 solo), two sacks and one defended pass across 12 regular-season games with the Ravens in 2019.
Fort also appeared in four regular-season contests with Philadelphia, during which he notched two tackles (one solo). He joined Baltimore as a free agent in late September and ultimately earned a two-year contract extension with the team. Expect Fort to contribute as a rotational linebacker and special-teams asset during the 2020 season.
