Kyle Love
Player News
DT Kyle Love announced his retirement.
Love, 34, played ten seasons in the NFL, last suiting up in 2019 for Carolina. He was an entrenched starter for the Patriots in 2011 and 2012, recording 4.5 sacks and 58 tackles over that span. Love in September 2020 was released by the Bucs, for whom he never logged a snap.
Buccaneers worked out Kyle Love on Tuesday.
Love was a final roster cut by Carolina, who wanted to find a way to keep him. He will move to another team, most likely, whether that is Tampa or some other team, remains to be seen.
Panthers said Kyle Love remains in the concussion protocol.
This simply means the Panthers are a big man down at practice at this point in camp as he is nothing more than a depth option along the front four in Carolina. He will need to pass through tests in the protocol before he can resume practicing once again but that could come any day. He should be ready to provide depth come opening weekend of the season.
The Carolina Panthers have re-signed defensive tackle Kyle Love.
The Panthers filled out their depth chart at their General Manager's favorite position by re-signing veteran backup defensive tackle Kyle Love. They brought Love back on a one-year deal, after bringing in veteran Paul Soliai earlier this offseason. Love, a former Patriots starter whose career hit a speed bump of sorts with a diabetes diagnosis, has become a valuable part for the Panthers since they picked him up late in 2014. He started a pair of games for them last year and is good insurance for his squad behind Kawann Short and Star Lotulelei.
