ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports FB Kyle Juszczyk has signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the San Francisco 49ers.
Juszczyk had an eventful week. He was released by the 49ers in a cap-saving measure that freed up $4.2 million in 2025. Juszczyk, the nine-time Pro Bowler, met with the Steelers before ending up back in San Francisco. The fullback turns 34 in April, but has started 31 games over the last two seasons and earned All-Pro honors in 2023.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports free agent FB Kyle Juszczyk is meeting with the Steelers.
Juszczyk was released by the 49ers earlier this week and is now free to sign with any team. The 34-year-old, do-it-all fullback can fill a number of roles for the Steelers and led all fullbacks with 245 routes run last season, per PFF and has run 200 or more routes in each of his last four seasons. Whether it’s with the Steelers or somewhere else, Juszczyk should have no trouble landing a job for the 2025 season.
49ers released FB Kyle Juszczyk.
Per Adam Schefter, Juszczyk intends to test free agency and wants to keep playing in the league, but it could be difficult to come across a situation that brings as much playing time as he had in San Francisco considering the dying art of the fullback position. The 12-year veteran has spent the previous eight seasons with the 49ers after coming into the league with the Ravens in 2013. Now entering his age-34 season, Juszczyk no longer brings the same rushing and receiving upside he once did, but he remains one of the better all-around fullbacks in the league.
Kyle Juszczyk caught 2-of-3 targets for 49 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers’ Week 18 loss to the Cardinals.
Juszczyk leaked out and was left uncovered on his 36-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter. It was only his third score of the year in a season he finishes with 226 yards from scrimmage. Juszczyk’s 19 receptions were a disappointing total considering the 49ers’ injury issues at both running back and receiver. Heading into the final year of his contract, Juszczyk is out of guaranteed money as he goes on age 34. There’s little chance he’s back at his currently scheduled $4.1 million salary, but a restructure is a strong possibility.
