Texans CB Kris Boyd (leg) carted off in preseason Week 3.
The reserve cornerback was carted off in the first quarter of the Texans’ third preseason game with a leg injury and is questionable to return. Boyd has reportedly had an excellent camp and preseason and was pushing to be a regular contributor on special teams in addition to providing depth in the secondary.
Vikings placed CB Kris Boyd on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
CB Mark Fields has been activated in a corresponding roster move. A starter the past six weeks, 2019 seventh-rounder Boyd made it only one snap in Week 14 against the Bucs. He will now miss the rest of the regular season. If the Vikes cash in their long-shot playoff bid, Boyd can return for the Wild Card round. In terms of performance, Boyd has not cured what has ailed the Vikes' injury-ruined secondary.
Vikings declared CB Kris Boyd, CB Holton Hill, OG Dru Samia, RB Dalvin Cook, and WR K.J. Osborn as inactive for Week 6 against the Falcons.
Cook (groin) is expected to return following the Week 7 bye. The two cornerback injuries are poorly timed with Calvin Ridley and Julio Jones coming to town. The Vikings have been one of the worst passing defenses this season. That shouldn't change this week.
Boyd had two tackles and played on 15 of the defense's 74 snaps in Sunday's win over Atlanta.
The 2019 seventh-round draft pick begins the season as a deep reserve in the secondary and got playing time late amid a blowout win. He's unlikely to get much playing time, but Minnesota's depth in the secondary could be tested early with several players hurt.
