Titans signed CB Kevin Peterson, formerly of the Cardinals.
Peterson played 12 games with the Cardinals in 2020, starting one. He will likely serve as camp depth but has a chance to make the roster as a special teams contributor. Peterson was a feature of Arizona's kick coverage and punt return units last season. The Titans waived linebacker Justus Reed in a corresponding move.
Cardinals re-signed CB Kevin Peterson to a one-year contract.
A 2016 UDFA, Peterson made 14 appearances for the Cardinals last season, including three starts. He supplied 254 replacement-level snaps. The fact that the Cardinals waited until May 12 to re-sign Peterson suggests he will have a difficult time keeping his 53-man roster spot.
Peterson (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Peterson made occasional starts on defense this year, but most games, his value came on special teams. When he did work on defense, the 25-year-old struggled in coverage, allowing 11.7 yards per target and a 73.9 completion percentage. Chris Jones and Jalen Davis should both see upticks in usage with Peterson out. Peterson will be a restricted free agent in March.
Peterson (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game against the Browns, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports
Peterson works in a rotational role, as he logged a 58-percent snap share in last week's loss to the Steelers. The 25-year-old cornerback has been vulnerable in coverage this year, though, allowing 11.9 yards per target and a 73-percent completion rate.
