Player News
Kerwynn Williams was released by the Saints on Friday, Charean Williams of CBS Sports reports.
Williams latched on with the Saints in camp this season, but he couldn't do enough to earn a roster spot. The journeyman will look to land another opportunity elsewhere prior to Week 1.
Williams signed a contract with the Saints on Thursday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
The Saints waived/injured running back Matthew Dayes (undisclosed) on Thursday, so the team used the now-open roster spot to sign Williams. The Saints are fairly secure with their running back depth heading into the preseason, but Williams will still compete for a potential depth role with the team.
Williams was released by the Buccaneers on Monday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
After spending approximately one week on Tampa Bay's roster, Williams is free to search for a depth role elsewhere in the league. The 27-year-old did not play for an NFL team during the 2018 season and spent the previous four years in a depth role with the Cardinals.
Williams signed with the Buccaneers on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Williams was released by the Lions on Thursday after signing a reserve/future contract with the team, but he's now on his way to Florida with Tampa Bay. The move is a reunion of sorts between him, head coach Bruce Arians and offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich, who were all together in Arizona.
