Kenny Cook had surgery Thursday to repair a torn quadriceps.
Having already battled cancer and gaining attention as an undrafted free agent, Kenny Cook has suffered another setback. He required surgery to repair a torn quadriceps muscle and has been waived by the Chiefs but they have placed him on their injured reserve to retain his rights. But the injury and required rehab time may make it difficult for the wide receiver to make an NFL roster this year.
Chiefs released WR Kenny Cook from the practice squad.
Cook wasn't advancing beyond the practice squad and the Chiefs are obviously looking for depth in another area. Cook will try to land a gig with another team, but it seems unlikely that we'll hear from him again this season.
Kenny Cook was released from the Chiefs' practice squad.
Cook will hope to get a call from another team in need of some help in the wide receiver department. The Chiefs hardly use their wide receivers as is, so this move isn't a surprise.
Chiefs signed first round CB Marcus Peters to a 4-year deal worth $9.58 million with a $5.23 million signing bonus.
The Chiefs had a need at the corner back position and filled it in the first round when they drafted Marcus Peters. Most draft experts feel that he had the highest-ceiling as a press corner in the draft. Peters has great size at 6 foot and 197 pounds with good-enough athleticism, and 4.53 speed. He projects to be a Week 1 starter in Kansas City, with Sean Smith at right cornerback and Phillip Gaines covering the slot.
