49ers re-signed CB Ken Webster to a one-year, $765,000 contract.
Webster, a two-year veteran, was an exclusive rights free agent, so his only options were to sign with the Niners or retire. The 252nd pick of the Patriots in 2019, Webster, 24, played in nine games during the 2020 season, returning a punt and recording two tackles in Week 10 against the Saints.
Webster (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
Webster was battling the ankle injury since late October and previously missed four games, and he apparently aggravated the injury during Sunday's loss to the Jets. The 23-year-old will finish the season with 19 tackles (17 solo) and one pass defensed in eight games.
Webster (ankle) does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's divisional tilt against the Jets, Hal Habib of The Palm Beach Post reports.
Webster kicked off the week with two straight limited practices, but he upgraded to full participation in Friday's session. The Mississippi product stands to serve as one of Miami's top rotational cornerbacks Week 14.
Webster (ankle) is active for Sunday's Week 13 battle against the Eagles.
Webster will return from his three-game absence, a development that was foreshadowed by his ability to return to a full practice Friday. He'll slot into the rotational cornerback role he filled before his injury.
