Kapri Bibbs
Player News
The NFL has given Bibbs a one-game suspension for an undisclosed reason, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Bibbs was released unexpectedly by the Packers during OTAs in June, and this might shed some light on the reason why. He will now be forced to be sidelined one game if he is able to find his way to another roster.
The Packers cut Bibbs on Friday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Bibbs caught on with Green Bay at the end of last season and took four touches for 15 yards Week 17. He proved himself competent on passing downs during his time in Washington, so he should find a chance to compete for a roster spot with another team this summer. The Packers are left with Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, Dexter Williams and Tra Carson (ribs) in their backfield, apparently prioritizing depth at other positions. They do have a 231-pound fullback, Malcolm Johnson, who played wide receiver and tight end in college.
Bibbs had one carry for two yards and three receptions for 13 yards in Sunday's loss to the Lions.
Bibbs saw action for the first time as a Packer and, with Aaron Jones (knee) out, worked as the backup behind Jamaal Williams. Bibbs suited up for two games with the Packers and 10 with the Redskins in 2018, and finished with 21 carries for the second year in a row. It remains to be seen if he will be back with the Packers in 2019, but if he is, he will compete for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart behind Jones and Williams.
Broncos placed Kapri Bibbs on injured reserve.
It's interesting that an ankle sprain has ultimately ended Bibbs season but that's in fact the case. Bibbs season will end receiving just 29 carries for 129 yards. It'll be interesting to see if he's still on the team next year when C.J. Anderson is healthy once again.
