Reed was placed on injured reserve Thursday with a neck injury that is likely career-ending, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Reed suffered damage to his vertebrae, which puts his overall health at serious risk should he play again. So, Reed is officially out for the the entire 2019 season and, while not official yet, likely done for his career.

Reed sat out of Saturday's preseason matchup with the Chargers because of a neck injury, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Reed spent last season on Seattle's practice squad and hasn't seen action in a regular-season game since 2017. It's unclear how serious the injury is or how much it'll hinder the 25-year-old from battling for a roster spot.

Reed was promoted to the 53-man roster following the release of veteran CB Perrish Cox. Reed was Mr. Irrelevant in 2016 when the Tennessee Titans took him with the 253rd pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Reed played his college ball for the Southern Miss. Golden Eagles.
