Justin Blackmon
Player News
Justin Blackmon was given a one-year suspended sentence and probation Wednesday.
Blackmon was one of the greatest collegiate receivers in history, but since joining the league, he has been largely non-existent. Not for lack of production on the field, but for lack of him being there, as he hasn't suited up since 2013. This is good news for him and his family, however the chances of him ever playing in the NFL again are very low because it will be tough for him to follow probation rules while traveling on an NFL schedule.
Justin Blackmon pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge from December in Oklahoma.
The once promising talent has run into legal trouble throughout the last several years which has derailed his career. Sadly, this news comes on the night of the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Justin Blackmon was arrested for another DUI in Carter County on December 19th.
Justin Blackmon played in just 20 career NFL games accumulating 93 catches for 1280 yards. He averaged nearly 14 yards a catch. The guy is supremely talented but obviously has a problem with alcohol and recreational drugs. The Jaguars have done all they can to help him but there is only so much they can do.
Toronto Argonauts acquire CFL rights to Justin Blackmon.
This does not mean Blackmon will play for the Argonauts. Under the “Ricky Williams rules” that was implemented nearly a decade ago, any player suspended by another professional football league will be ineligible to play in the CFL. Until Blackmon’s indefinite suspension is lifted by the NFL, Blackmon will continue to be out of work.
