Jordan Leggett
Player News
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Patriots are hosting free agent TE Jordan Leggett with the intent to sign him.
The Patriots have been in the market for a veteran tight end following Matt LaCosse's opt-out. It's actually good news for third-round rookies Devin Asiasi and Dalton Keene as Leggett, Tampa Bay's fifth-round selection in 2017, failed to play a single snap last year and offers minimal pushback to playing time. If the 25-year-old is New England's only response to address that position, Asiasi remains an intriguing late-round flier in deeper fantasy leagues.
Leggett signed a reserve/futures contract with the Buccaneers on Tuesday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Leggett spent the latter half of the year on the team's active roster but never played a snap. He'll have another chance to seek playing time in 2020.
The Buccaneers signed Leggett to the practice squad Thursday.
Tampa Bay waived Leggett on Tuesday, and he now rejoins the team as a member of the practice squad. The third-year pro had spent eight weeks on the team's active roster, but he hadn't been active for a single contest.
Leggett was waived by the Buccaneers on Tuesday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Leggett spent each of the last eight weeks on the Bucs' 53-man roster but was inactive for gameday each time. Cornerback John Franklin took the 24-year-old's spot on the team.
