Patriots placed Jonathan Freeny on injured reserve.
Jonathan Freeny was absent from practice Friday.
Freeny is Jamie Collins's backup so if he's forced to miss time it won't impact the defense. He is, however, a solid special teams player so that unit would take a hit if Freeny is forced to miss time.
Patriots have signed Jonathan Freeny to a contract extension.
Freeney was a productive part-timer for the Patriots, collecting 27 solo tackles among his 50 total tackles, with an interception and pass defensed over 13 games. He is currently atop the depth chart, ahead of Shea McClellin and Kevin Snyder at outside linebacker on the weak side.
Jonathan Freeny (hand) is being listed as out for Week 15.
Freeny was injured during the Patriots win over the Texans last Sunday and it appears that same injury will force him to miss Sunday's game against the Titans.
