His full statement can be viewed on his Instagram. Kearse hasn't played since breaking his leg in a preseason game with the Lions last summer. He finishes his career with 255 catches for 3,290 yards and 17 touchdowns across eight seasons with the Seahawks and Jets.
Kearse (foot) was placed on injured reserve Saturday.
It seemed evident upon replay of the injury that Kearse would miss an extended amount of time, so this designation shouldn't come as much of a shock. Kearse was carted off the field Thursday against the Patriots with his leg in an air cast, Nora Princiotti of The Boston Globe reports.
In general, air casts are used to stabilize serious injuries, so Kearse may be facing a lengthy rehab effort. However, the Lions have yet to release the nature of the issue.
