Jeremy Maclin

Baltimore Ravens - WR

Player News

Maclin (knee) could be released in the offseason as the Ravens aim to clear up cap space, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

In addition to missing missing four games due to injury, Maclin struggled to career-low marks in receptions (40) and receiving yards (440) during his first season in Baltimore, with his lack of productivity proving problematic for an already weak passing attack. Maclin carries a $7.5 million cap hit for the 2018 season and is due a $1 million roster bonus on March 16, so expect the Ravens to render a decision on his future with the organization by that date. By releasing Maclin, the Ravens would gain $5 million in cap space and afford the front office some more flexibility during the offseason.

Maclin (knee) is listed as doubtful for Saturday's game against the Colts.

Maclin is trending toward inactive status Saturday and belongs out of Week 16 fantasy lineups. In his likely absence, Chris Moore would be a candidate for added looks in the Baltimore passing offense this weekend, while working opposite Mike Wallace.

Maclin (knee) isn't taking part in Thursday's practice, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

Maclin's absence from all three of the Ravens' practices this week casts doubt on his availability for Saturday's game against the Colts, but the team should provide an official designation for the wideout later Thursday. In the event Maclin is sidelined for his third game of the season, Mike Wallace would rank as the clear top target for quarterback Joe Flacco, while depth wideouts Chris Moore, Breshad Perriman and Michael Campanaro could also take on more involvement in the Baltimore passing attack.

Maclin (knee) is unlikely to play in Saturday's game against the Colts, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports.

While Maclin seems to have avoided a serious injury, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh acknowledged Monday that the veteran wideout will have a tough time avoiding at least one absence with the team on a short week. It doesn't help that the Ravens have minimal incentive to rush Maclin back, as they're heavily favored to emerge victorious against a slumping, injury-ravaged Colts team. Chris Moore, Breshad Perriman and Michael Campanaro are all candidates to take on Maclin's vacated snaps.
