Adams has been with the practice squad since Dec. 12, but the Saints want to give Cole Wick a try now. The 26-year-old Adams has played in 30 NFL games, recording 24 receptions for 214 yards and a touchdown.

Adams appeared in one game with the Texans this season then spent time on the team's practice squad. The South Carolina product will now look to make the most of his opportunity on New Orleans' practice squad. He'll likely need to impress on special teams for any chance of bumping to the 53-man roster.

Adams, who was one of several tight ends in the Texans' orbit since training camp, was let go to make room for linebacker Nate Hall. He appeared in one game for Houston this season, the regular-season opener, before landing on the team's practice squad.

Adams was cut from the Texans' practice squad Oct. 9 with a non-football illness, but as evidenced by this news, has shaken off the illness. He'll hope familiarity with the organization can lead to a call-up and earn a 53-man roster spot.
