Javorius Allen
Player News
Allen had only 10 carries for the Giants this year, and just one of those came in the season's final two games.
The journeyman is likely to serve as a special teams/depth player should he make the roster in 2020.
Allen carried the ball eight times for 28 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 36-20 win over the Dolphins.
Allen worked as the backup to Saquon Barkley with Wayne Gallman a healthy scratch. The 28-year-old took the field in the fourth quarter with the contest well out of hand, and he made the most of that opportunity to score the eighth rushing touchdown of his career. Across the previous seven contests, Allen had handled just one carry.
Allen recorded a four-yard rush in Sunday's 31-13 loss to the Packers.
While Saquon Barkley continues his stranglehold on the backfield reps -- he played 96 percent of offensive snaps -- Allen logged three snaps and Wayne Gallman didn't touch the field. Both Allen and Gallman have similar handcuff value in case Barkley is injured during the fantasy playoffs.
Allen signed with the Giants on Friday, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.
Allen will replace undrafted rookie Jon Hilliman, who was waived Friday after struggling in the lead backfield role during Thursday's 35-14 loss to New England. The Giants presumably expect to have Saquon Barkley (ankle) and/or Wayne Gallman (concussion) back in the lineup for Week 7 against Arizona.
