Player News
Eagles placed LB Jatavis Brown on the team's reserve/retired list.
Brown played for the Chargers for four years before signing with the Eagles in March. Philadelphia will retain Brown, 26, if he comes out of retirement at any point.
Eagles signed LB Jatavis Brown, formerly of the Chargers, to a one-year contract.
Brown was a starter in each of his first three seasons but was sent to backup duties in 2019 after the Chargers signed Thomas Davis. Only 26 years old, Brown should compete for a starting spot or end up as a high-level rotational player in Philly. When Brown was starting, he was a decently productive player, making at least 79 tackles in three-straight seasons while lining up at different spots in the Chargers' hybrid defense.
Brown posted just 10 tackles (eight solo) in 13 games during the 2019 season.
It's not clear why Brown fell so far down the Chargers' depth chart, but after three straight seasons playing 500 or more defensive snaps it was stunning to see the fourth-year linebacker a healthy inactive for the latter part of 2019. The 25-year-old should make for an intriguing case study on a new team, as Brown is not expected to return to the Chargers after playing out his rookie deal.
Brown (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Bears, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Brown is a healthy scratch for Week 8. His inactive status seems to have come as a result of poor tackling during Week 7's loss to the Titans.
