Giants signed DB Jarrod Wilson, formerly of the Jets.
The team waived/injured Jarren Williams in a corresponding move. Wilson appeared in nine games split between the Jets and 49ers last year. He started 12 games as a free safety for the Jaguars in 2020. He defended three passes and logged one interception in that season. Wilson is a solid depth option for the Giants but won't compete for a starting role.
Jets signed DB Jarrod Wilson.
Wilson was cut by the Jaguars on the final day of August. He started 12 games in Jacksonville last season, scoring respectably in the Pro Football Focus grading system. He'll now join a Jets squad that sports one of the league's worst secondaries. New York also signed OL Isaiah Williams.
Jaguars placed S Jarrod Wilson on injured reserve.
The team signed CB Sidney Jones from the practice squad in a corresponding move. Wilson made three tackles on 63 snaps in Week 1 before being replaced by Andrew Wingard to close the game. He'll return to a starting role once activated.
The Jaguars have exercised their option on Wilson's contract for 2020, John Oehser of the team's official site reports.
Wilson's career-best 2019 campaign, in which he notched 79 tackles (57 solo), four defended passes, two interceptions and one forced fumble across 16 regular-season contests, has earned him a clear path to Jacksonville's starting free safety gig for 2020. Now locked up through 2021 and possessing a relatively safe floor in terms of tackles, the 26-year-old could be a worthwhile IDP asset for 2020.
