Jake Fisher
Player News
Fisher was let go Monday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
The Bills brought in the former offensive lineman to give him a shot at making the team as a tight end, but with veteran Lee Smith added Monday, there was no longer room to let the experiment play out. Fisher is still just 26, so there's a decent chance someone else picks him up for either job.
Fisher said he is down to 268 pounds and is aiming for the low 260s as he transitions to tight end, Mark Gaughan of The Buffalo News reports.
With Fisher making the switch from tackle to tight end, a position he said he is much more passionate about playing, he has had to go from over 300 pounds to 260. He has made remarkable progress the last few months and appears to be close to his goal weight a couple months out of training camp.
Jake Fisher (back) did not practice on Thursday.
Fisher is the Bengals primary backup linemen but now that he's injured, the team could be in trouble. Fisher has been dealing with a back issue all week and will be questionable for Week 5.
Jake Fisher suffered a sprained ankle in Thursday's game.
Fisher is a backup on the Bengals' offensive line, but is an important piece to the overall puzzle. He was carted off the field on Thursday night, though that doesn't necessarily mean the worst. Cincinnati will update his status on Friday.
