Thomas has been placed on the season ending IR. Thomas injured his knee on a kickoff return to end the first half of the Giants’ 20-19 victory over the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. J.T Thomas was placed on injured reserve with torn ligaments in his knee.
The linebacker tore his knee up while covering a kickoff and having it rolled up on while blocking an opposing Cowboy. He had spent most of camp on the PUP list while nursing a hamstring injury and now he is done for the year after just a half of football in the regular season opener. His roster spot will be taken by Josh Brown, who was serving a one-game domestic violence suspension during Week 1, and so the Giants are back at 53 men on the active roster. He will now just have to worry about getting the surgery done and recovering for next season.
J.T. Thomas suffered an apparent left knee injury against the Cowboys.
Thomas had his leg rolled up on and it looked pretty gruesome. It's unlikely that he will return for the second half against Dallas. Hopefully the injury isn't serious enough to end his season, but it's too early to tell.
Giants placed LB J.T. Thomas and long snapper Danny Aiken in injured reserve.
With the Giants season one game away from being officially over, two players seasons ended a little early. Thomas and Aiken were placed on injured reserve. Thomas played in 12 games in his first year with New York. He recorded 46 tackles on the season. Aiken was the backup long snapper before getting his chance due to injuries in front of him.
With the Giants out of it, they decided to shut down Thomas and Aiken. Thomas has been dealing with a nagging ankle injury while Aiken was injury during practice on Wednesday. Both should be ready for the start of the 2016 season.
