Patriots signed EDGE Harold Landry to a three-year, $43.5 million deal.
Titans released LB Harold Landry.
The move will create just shy of $11 million in cap space for Tennessee while leaving them with a $13.1 million dead cap charge. The Titans tried to find a trade partner for Landry but couldn’t land any takers because of his contract. The veteran defender had two seasons left on the five-year, $87.5 million contract he signed ahead of the 2022 season. Landry tore his ACL in 2022 but returned to form the following year, logging 10.5 sacks. His sack total took a slight hit last year, falling to nine. Landry will turn 29 years old before the upcoming season but is still an above-average starter at his position. Expect him to have plenty of suitors on the open market.
Titans listed LB Harold Landry (abdomen) as questionable for Week 1 against the Saints.
Landry was upgraded to a full participant in Friday’s practice, which suggests he’s trending on the right side of playing in Week 1. The Titans EDGE rusher was lost to a torn ACL just days before the start of the 2022 season, but totaled a career-high 12 sacks the last time he was on a field. We’d be surprised if Landry didn’t suit up come Sunday.
Titans EDGE Harold Landry has suffered a torn ACL and will miss the 2022 season.
Landry suffered the injury in Wednesday's practice. It's a massive blow for a player coming off a career-high 12 sacks, and a team that signed Landry to a five-year, $87.5 million extension in March. The only good news is that Landry is still only 26 years old, and should recover in time for Week 1, 2023. It places huge pressure on fellow EDGE Bud Dupree, and leaves a Titans defense that is seemingly always operating off its back foot from a personnel perspective once against adjusting on the fly.
