Haley signed a one-year contract extension with the Giants on Saturday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Haley has played in 25 games with the Giants over the past two seasons, and he worked in a starting role for the first half of 2019. However, the Penn State product didn't log a defensive snap for five of the last six games. Depending on the Giants' draft haul, Haley may battle for a starting role in 2020 again.
Haley had seven solo tackles and a sack in Sunday's loss to the Lions.
Haley has now played 70-plus percent of defensive snaps in five of the last six games, including three starts. The sack is the first of his career, and he has 37 tackles (30 solo) through eight games.
Haley (illness) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Haley was kept from practicing Wednesday due to an undisclosed illness and now appears back to full health. He'll play his usual reserve role in New York's secondary versus the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Haley did not practice Wednesday due to an illness, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
The specifics regarding Haley's illness are unclear at this time, but the backup defensive back should be considered day-to-day for now.
