Dieter signed a contract with the Chiefs on Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Dieter has spent the last two seasons bumping between Kansas City's active roster and practice squad, and he'll now benefit from another offseason to develop in the team's system. He appeared in two regular-season games with the Chiefs in 2019 but was held without a target.
The Chiefs signed Dieter to the practice squad Thursday.
Deiter has periodically jumped between Kansas City's active roster and practice squad for two seasons. He'll wait in the wings for another special-teams role to open up with the team.
The Chiefs waived Dieter on Tuesday, per the league's official transactions log.
Dieter joined Kansas City's 53-man roster Nov. 18. He appeared in two games with the team but was not targeted, playing six snaps on offense and 17 snaps on special teams. Assuming the 26-year-old goes unclaimed on waivers, he could be a candidate to resurface in Kansas City at some point when another special-teams role becomes available.
Dieter was promoted to the Chiefs' 53-man roster Monday, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports.
DE Emmanuel Ogbah (pectoral) was placed on injured reserve, opening space for Dieter to be promoted from the team's practice squad. The 26-year-old appeared in four games for Kansas City last season and caught one of three targets for 22 yards.
