Bayless agreed to a contract with the Packers on Tuesday.
Baylis spent the 2020 season joined the Packers' 53-man roster prior to Week 3 and remained there through Week 8. However, he failed to see any action on the field. He then spent the rest of the season on the team's practice squad. The 26-year-old is now set to spend the offseason in Green Bay and look to earn a spot on the team.
Baylis cleared waivers Thursday and joined the Packers' practice squad.
Baylis was waived by the Packers on Tuesday. He's appeared in five games with the team this season, playing 12 snaps on offense and 53 snaps on special teams. The Oregon product is a candidate to be promoted back to the active roster later in the season, in the event that Green Bay were to suffer injuries at the tight end position.
The Packers waived Baylis on Tuesday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
This is the second time Baylis has been cut during October. His departure signals either Robert Tonyan (hip) is ready to return or Jace Sternberger (ankle) will be activated off injured reserve soon. If Baylis clears waivers, he's expected to land on the Packers' practice squad.
The Packers promoted Baylis to the active roster Monday.
Robert Tonyan (hip) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Lions, so Baylis will suit up to serve as depth. In two games this season, Baylis played just one offensive snap compared to 13 on special teams.
