Dion Sims
Player News
Dion Sims announced his retirement.
The veteran tight end walks away after a combined six seasons with the Dolphins and Bears. Sims battled a concerning concussion history going back to his time at Michigan State, eventually forcing him to hang up his cleats with 91 catches for 888 yards and nine touchdowns as a primary blocking tight end. Chicago previously released Sims last February after he finished 2018 on injured reserve.
Dion Sims is out of concussion protocol so he hopes to play in Week 10.
In the six games Dion Sims has played, he's failed to catch over one pass all but once. San Diego hasn't been one of the better defenses in fantasy points allowed to tight ends, however, the upside here seems limited. If Sims plays, he is still too risky for cash games or seasonal leagues. However, since this game has the potential to be a shootout, and the matchup is decent, he could be used as a GPP play if needed.
Dion Sims practiced in full on Wednesday.
Sims was cleared to practice for the first time since suffering a concussion. We can expect to see Sims back as the team's starting tight end against the Chargers in Week 10, although his workload usually doesn't result in fantasy production.
Dion Sims (concussion protocol) will not play Week 9.
This is some strange news considering the fact Sims has been a full participant at practice all week. He reportedly passed the concussion protocol but it seems that hasn't happened quite yet. The Dolphins will be thin at tight end this week with Jordan Cameron and Sims out this week.
