DeAndre Smelter (knee) has been practicing without restrictions this offseason.
Smelter missed his entire rookie season due to undergoing knee surgery in December of his final year in college. The 49ers wide receiving core leaves a lot to be desired and with the organization investing a fourth round pick in 2015 on Smelter, there is going to be plenty of opportunity for the youngster to earn a big role.

Smelter had been practicing with the team during his three-week window after coming off the Reserve/Non-football Injury list. It looks as though he is still not healthy enough to be carried on the active roster.

Smelter is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in November of his final year at Georgia Tech. The 49ers will continue to trim their roster down, seeing as they have to be down to 53 players by this Saturday.
