Eagles waived LB Davion Taylor.
Taylor was a third-round pick out of Colorado in 2020 and appeared in 21 games, making seven starts, in his two seasons with the Eagles. His roster spot went to QB Ian Book after he was claimed off waivers from the Saints.
Eagles LB Davion Taylor is considered "week to week" with a calf injury.
A third-round pick last year, Taylor had been working with the No. 1 defense this summer after playing just 32 snaps as a rookie. The Eagles signed veteran LB Eric Wilson this offseason to help stabilize the second level of their defense.
Eagles selected Colorado LB Davion Taylor with the No. 103 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Taylor (6’0/228) was a two-year starting linebacker at Colorado who showcased 82nd percentile Adjusted SPARQ athleticism at the NFL Combine. A high school hooper and track star, Taylor’s football experience is limited, but he has the physical traits of a developmental coverage linebacker. The Buffaloes used him in the slot (294 snaps) the most where he took on tight ends, slot receivers, and running backs with inconsistent success. His below-average vision makes him a project, but Taylor can be an asset on special teams and has the upside of being a quality coverage backer in sub-packages if given enough reps to learn the position.
