Darron Lee
Player News
Raiders signed LB Darron Lee, formerly of the Bills.
Lee flamed out with the Jets after three years and was subsequently traded to Kansas City. He played in all 16 games for the Chiefs in 2019 but was primarily used on special teams. He was signed to Buffalo's practice squad in 2020 and appeared in two games. If Lee can crack the Raiders' roster, he'll be used as a special teams contributor once again. Las Vegas waived TJ Morrison in a corresponding move.
NFL suspended free agent LB Darron Lee four games.
The violation is unclear. Lee was previously suspended four games for PED use. The No. 20 overall pick of the 2016 draft is still only 25 years old, but another ban will have his NFL future in question. Lee barely played for the 2019 Super Bowl champion Chiefs, though he did remain on the 53-man roster all season.
Lee notched 31 tackles (22 solo) across 16 regular-season games in 2019.
Lee averaged 80 tackles per season for the Jets from 2016-18, but he was relegated to a depth role in his inaugural season with the Chiefs, logging a career-low 161 defensive snaps despite playing a full 16-game slate for the first time. He looks set for a similar reserve role in 2020.
Lee (illness) will play in Sunday's game against the Packers, BJ Kissel of the Chiefs' official site reports.
Lee battled a sickness through the practice week, but he's ready for this prime-time matchup. The fourth-year pro's snap share can be flaky, as he works mainly as a reserve behind Anthony Hitchens and Damien Wilson while also picking up ample playing time on special teams. Lee has 23 tackles over seven games in this role.
