Darrelle Revis
Player News
Revis has announced his retirement Tuesday on his instagram account.
One of the top cover men in NFL history, Revis played eight of his 11 seasons with the Jets and won a Super Bowl with the Patriots in 2014. He handled a significant role for the Chiefs in December and January, but he hasn't played at a high level since 2015, the first year of his second stint in New York. The 33-year-old cornerback finishes his career with 497 tackles, 140 passes defended and 29 interceptions in 145 regular-season games. He's a lock for the Hall of Fame and arguably the best cornerback of his generation.
Revis is due in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing regarding a recent alleged incident in Pittsburgh, SI.com reports.
New Jets DB coach thinks Darrelle Revis can make a smooth transition to safety.
The future Hall of Famer may be able to make the transition, but it will probably not be with the Jets. Revis will have a salary cap hit of over $15 million and there’s a strong chance he is released. The 31-year-old struggled mightily this past season and in order to extend his prolific career, a position switch may be necessary.
Darrelle Revis says he will return to the Jets if they "treat his situation with class."
Revis had a pretty bad year by his, or anyone's standards, but he wants to be treated with class by the Jets organization. That could go one of two ways. Maybe he just wants to be treated like the star veteran he is, or being treated with class means a couple extra dollars coming his way. He wants to be treated as one of the best players in the history of franchise, despite not performing like it this past season.
