Cody Parkey
Player News
Saints placed Cody Parkey (groin) on injured reserve.
Parkey hurt his groin in pregame warmups before the Saints' Week 5 win against Washington. He played through the injury and missed two of his five extra point attempts in his only game with New Orleans. The team hopes to get Wil Lutz (groin) back from IR after their Week 6 bye. Lutz wouldn't be a priority add in fantasy leagues. The Saints have attempted four field goals in five games.
Saints signed K Cody Parkey.
Parkey will immediately take the place of Aldrick Rosas, who was released after missing three field goals in New Orleans' last two games (including a 58-yard try in Week 4). Starting K Wil Lutz remains on injured reserve for an indefinite period of time following core muscle injury in August.
Browns placed K Cody Parkey (quad) on injured reserve.
He will be released with an injury settlement. Parkey was in the midst of a camp battle with Chase McLaughlin before suffering the injury. Cleveland re-signed him in the offseason after he went 19-of-22 on field goals and 43-of-47 on extra points last year. With Parkey out of the picture, McLaughlin will start for the Browns to open the year.
Browns re-signed K Cody Parkey to a one-year contract.
Parkey gets another year with the Browns after making 19 of his 22 field goal tries and 43 of 47 extra point attempts in 2020. He was hardly usable in fantasy leagues, finishing the season as the 23rd highest scoring kicker. Cleveland had the fourth fewest field goal tries in 2020. Unless that changes, Parkey will remain waiver wire fodder in 2021.
