Player News
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Colts S Clayton Geathers will play in 2021.
Geathers opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 and to recover from injuries. He'll be a free agent starting this week. Geathers, who played 14 games for Indianapolis in 2019, was graded by Pro Football Focus as the 80th best safety in the league that season.
Geathers recorded 54 tackles, one pass breakup and one interception over 15 games in 2019.
Geathers made 10 starts, as Khari Willis (neck) also logged time with the top unit. The 27-year-old Willis' contract is up in March, and it's unclear if he'll re-up with the Colts. If he does, he'll likely battle with Willis for a starting job.
Geathers has cleared the league's concussion protocol Monday, Mike Wells of ESPN.com reports.
Geathers made full use of Indianapolis' bye week to get fully healthy. He participated in practice Monday, per Kevin Bowen of 1070 The Fan Indianapolis, and appears on track to suit up versus the Texans on Sunday.
Geathers (concussion) is practicing in some capacity Monday, Kevin Bowen of 1070 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
Geathers appears to still be in the concussion protocol after Indianapolis' bye week. He'll need to receive clearance from an independent neurologist before retaking the field, which makes his chances of suiting up Sunday against the Texans uncertain.
