Cedric Thornton
Player News
Thornton was released by the 49ers on Friday.
Thornton came out of retirement in April after sitting out the 2018 season. It appears he did not make enough of an impression to make a serious bid at landing on the 49ers' roster. It is unclear if the 30-year-old will continue his efforts at a comeback after this news.
DT Cedric Thornton is not practicing on Friday.
No word on whether this is injury related or just a veterans day off. Thornton, a 4 year veteran, is entering his 1st season with Dallas after spending his first 4 seasons with Philadelphia.
Cowboys have agreed to terms with former Eagles DL Cedric Thornton on a four-year deal.
Dallas had a need along the defensive front so this meets that need though he isn't a big name at the position. He should slot in as a DT in the 4-3 scheme the Cowboys run. Thornton played 13 games for the Eagles last season and racked up just 33 total tackles so he is not a major impact guy.
Cedric Thornton will miss a couple of weeks with a broken bone in his hand.
The Eagles will obviously explore the possibility of Thornton playing with a cast on his hand, but here in the initial weeks following the injury, it is probably best to err on the side of caution. Vinny Curry and Taylor Hart will see an increase in snaps during his absence.
