Player News
Washington waived DL Caleb Brantley, WR Emanuel Hall, RB Javon Leake, TE Thaddeus Moss, and RB Michael Warren.
Brantley most recently received a $350,000 high-risk stipend/loan from the organization upon opting out last year. A former sixth-round pick by the Browns, he made one appearance for Washington in 2019.
Washington DL Caleb Brantley is the first reported "high risk" opt-out player for the 2020 season.
Brantley will receive a $350,000 stipend with no offset language and a credited season. Brantley, a former sixth-round pick by the Browns, played in one game last season for Washington and re-signed for the team back in March.
Redskins re-signed DT Caleb Brantley.
Brantley wasn't tendered as a restricted free agent, but the Redskins are bringing him back at a cheaper salary than the "low" tender of $2 million-plus. The former sixth-round pick of the Browns in 2017, Brantley played all of eight defensive snaps last season.
Washington placed Brantley (ankle) on injured reserve Friday, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Brantley sustained the injury in Washington's season opener against Philadelphia. The 25-year-old was already slated to miss Sunday's Week 2 matchup with Dallas, but it seems the injury will require a longer recovery period. T.Y. McGill will fill in for Brantley while he's sidelined.
