Breno Giacomini said he will have surgery to shave down a herniated disk in his back "sooner rather than later" with it expected to be a four month recovery.
Giacomini was a fifth round pick by the Green Bay Packers in 2008. He started this season on the PUP list and made his season debut in Week 8. He was placed on injured reserve after this herniated disk occured in Week 13.

A back injury has ended the tackles 2016 season prematurely on Tuesday. It's the same injury that had the lineman start the year on the PUP list as well. Giacomini is under contract for the 2017 campaign at $4.5 million but it remains to be seen if he will stay with the team or be a cap casualty as the Jets are looking at a rebuilding phase in the next couple of years.

Getting the right tackle back on the field will help shore up the Jet offensive line. He has not seen a snap all season with a back injury.

The Jets offensive line has probably been their only bright spot so far this season, but they wouldn't be unhappy to see Giacomini back healthy.
