Brandon Pettigrew
Player News
Lions have waived TE Brandon Pettigrew from reserve/non-football injury.
After six years in Detriot, the Lions have parted ways with the tight end from Oklahoma State. He was drafted in the first round of the 2009 NFL draft and never materialized to anything more than a blocking tight end. He has yet to play this season due to injury but the Lions are not realising him because of health.
Lions cut Brandon Pettigrew from the reserve-non-football injury list.
Eric Ebron was getting most of the workload and is the younger, more talented player, so cutting Pettigrew made the most sense for Detroit.
Brandon Pettigrew (knee) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
At the beginning of the season, Detroit Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew was placed on the teams PUP list, as he continued to nurse an ACL tear. He returned to practice two weeks ago, but was never activated off the list. On Tuesday he was placed on the teams non-football injuries list, which doesn't bode well for his return this season.
Brandon Pettigrew started practicing last week, and he could come off the physically unable to perform list as soon as Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.
Pettigrew will never get enough work to be fantasy relevant, but he could make Eric Ebron even more frustrating for fantasy. Ebron will be a pretty solid play against the Saints regardless of Pettigrew's status, but Pettigrew could be a drain if he is indeed healthy.
