Brandon Gibson
Player News
Patriots placed Brandon Gibson (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Gibson was injured during the preseason game against the Saints on Saturday. The wideout was vying for snaps at the fourth WR spot behind Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, and Brandon LaFell and his void will now make it easier for Reggie Wayne to make the roster. He will look to catch on next season when his knee is all healed.
Brandon Gibson suffered a knee injury on Saturday and was immediately sent for x-rays.
Gibson made a catch late in the fourth quarter and immediate went to the sidelines afterwards and from there, the locker room. No word on the extent of the injury but Gibson seemed confident that his left knee was just fine. He suffered a season-ending injury to his right knee in 2013, so the team just wants to be cautious.
Patriots have signed former Dolphins WR Brandon Gibson. 1-year deal worth $825,000.
The Patriots are known to take some chances on veteran wide receivers during free agency and Gibson fits that mold. Gibson appeared in 14 games for the Dolphins last season, catching 29 passes for 295 yards and a touchdown. His best season came in 2012 with the Rams where he caught 51 passes for 691 yards and five touchdowns.
Brandon Gibson has been released by the Dolphins.
Gibson had 59 Catches and 4 TDs during his 21 games as a member of the Miami Dolphins. Most likely, he will end up signing on as a WR4 somewhere before the 2015 NFL season begins, but he won't have any real fantasy value unless he finds a way to play his way into an every-down WR position.
