Bradley McDougald

Jets acquired S Bradley McDougald, 2021 first- and third-round picks, and a 2022 first-round pick from the Seahawks in exchange for S Jamal Adams.
McDougald was a throw-in piece in the giant trade involving Jamal Adams, two first-round picks, and a third-rounder. McDougald figures to compete for a starting spot in New York, but he's an obvious downgrade and the move arguably makes the Jets a bottom-three secondary. It's a move that significantly helps the Jets’ long-term plans, however. The question now becomes if coach Adam Gase will be along for the ride. GM Joe Douglas seems to be doing a good job in the front office but will need to part ways from Gase to take the next step.
McDougald, who recorded 15 tackles and a sack over two playoff games, finished the 2019 season with 70 tackles, 0.5 sacks, three pass breakups and two interceptions over 15 regular-season contests.
McDougald served as the team's starting strong safety for the second straight season, and he was solid against the run and in coverage. The 29-year-old led the team in postseason tackles, and he ranked fifth on the team in the regular season. He's in line for another starting role in 2020 -- the final year of his contract at a cap hit of $5.4 million -- but his IDP value isn't enticing since Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright eat up most of the stops.
McDougald posted 11 tackles -- 2.5 for a loss -- and a sack in Sunday's 17-9 wild-card win over the Eagles.
McDougald didn't surpass seven tackles in a game during the regular season, and he had just 0.5 sacks over 15 games. However, the 29-year-old safety was explosive in this contest, helping hold the Eagles to just nine points. The Seahawks will travel to Green Bay for the divisional round.
McDougald (back) practiced without limitations Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
McDougald was active for this past Sunday's win over the Falcons, but it's possible back issues are the reason he was held to just 14 defensive snaps. His full participation Wednesday signals McDougald may have shaken his back injury. As long as he finishes the practice week without a setback, McDougald should return to an every-snap role in Week 9's matchup against the Buccaneers.
