Bobby Rainey
Player News
Giants have signed Bobby Rainey.
It would appear the Giants are not done adding to the roster this off-season. New York has signed running back Bobby Rainey to join the crowded backfield. Rainey did play for present offensive coordinator with the Buccaneers in 2013 in which Rainey ran for 532 yards on 137 carries. His role will become clearer in camp but with the Giants looking for a consistent rushing game, Rainey could work himself into a role this season.
Bobby Rainey visited the Dolphins on Thursday.
The Dolphins are bringing in pass catching running backs it seems as they just signed Isaiah Pead. Rainey, unlike Pead, is a much more established NFL running back and at times handled the feature role while in Tampa when Doug Martin was injured or struggling. Should Miami end up signing Rainey I give him a much better shot at making the roster over Pead.
Jets are interested in RB Bobby Rainey.
The Jets lost Chris Ivory in free agency so they will be tied to a lot of running backs in free agency and in the NFL Draft. Rainey had a stretch of two seasons where he was a fantasy option, but due to reemergence of Doug Martin last year, Rainey only finished with five carries. It appears the Jets will turn to Bilal Powell as their running back next season, but they will continue to look at all options to help build depth at that position.
Buccaneers have signed RB Bobby Rainey to a one-year tender worth $1.54-million.
