49ers released CB B.W. Webb.
He was expendable after the team made him available for depth purposes in the second preseason game. Webb has still never played for the same team in consecutive seasons.
49ers signed CB B.W. Webb, formerly of the Bengals.
Webb signed with the Cardinals in August of 2020 but was released before the start of the season. He has never played for the same team in consecutive seasons but will add much-needed depth to a San Francisco secondary that is currently missing Dontae Johnson (foot), Tim Harris (groin), and Emmanuel Moseley (reserve/COVID-19 list). All three should be ready for the beginning of the season but Webb could start in a pinch. The veteran corner logged 25 starts from 2018 to 2019.
Cardinals signed CB B.W. Webb, formerly of the Bengals, to a one-year contract.
Now on the wrong side of 30, Webb made 12 starts for the league-worst Bengals last season. The Cardinals are collecting veteran fliers at corner after Robert Alford was lost for the season with a torn pectoral.
Bengals released CB B.W. Webb.
Cincinnati made two rare splashes in free agency yesterday bringing in DT D.J. Reader and CB Trae Waynes, but that means they need to trim the fat off their current roster to make room. Webb is one of the first casualties. This release should lead to Webb signing with his seventh team in seven years, which has got to be close to a record.
