Ogletree, 30 next month, was the 30th overall pick by Jeff Fisher's Rams in 2013. A former every-down linebacker, Ogletree was cut by the Giants last summer and appeared in just two games last year with the Jets. He played for current Bears LBs coach Bill McGovern with the G-Men.

It's the first we've heard on Ogletree since his February release. Ogletree never lived up to his Giants contract, but it's surprising there hasn't been more interest in him. 28-year-old Ogletree has started every game he's appeared in since entering the league in 2013. Chicago also worked out free agents Devante Bond and Gabe Sewell.

The 28-year-old inside linebacker is known as one of the NFL's better athletes at his position, but his knack for making big plays hasn't been backed by huge tackle totals or snap-to-snap consistency, with Pro Football Focus grading him at 63.3 or lower in each of seven NFL seasons. Ogletree played every defensive snap in nine of his 13 appearances in 2019, recording 80 tackles (48 solo), six pass defenses, one interception and one sack. He picked off five passes in 13 games the previous season, returning two for touchdowns. The Giants freed up $8.25 million in 2020 cap space when they cut Ogletree, along with another $4.8 million with the release of outside linebacker Kareem Martin, per Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York.

Ogletree has now logged two consecutive seasons with 13 appearances. The veteran inside linebacker has two more years remaining on his contract with the Giants, though the team can clear up $9 million in cap space if Ogletree is traded or cut before Week 1, per overthecap.com.
