Colvin was fighting for a backup job at slot corner but Washington made the decision to move on from him. He made his way to Washington after starting 2019 with the Texans. He played in six games and notched two starts for Washington. Colvin recorded a lone deflection and 10 tackles with the team.
Redskins re-signed CB Aaron Colvin.
Colvin was cut from the Texans after an absolutely disastrous Week 1 in 2019. He went on to appear in six games for Washington with two starts, accounting for 10 tackles and one pass deflection along the way. Don't expect Colvin to compete for much more than a backup job at slot corner after the Redskins reunited with Kendall Fuller during the offseason.
Colvin (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against Detroit.
Colvin was expected to be active for the game while Josh Norman notched a healthy scratch, but the team had a change of heart. Colvin has played just five special teams snaps for the Redskins this season, so his absence won't affect the defense. The team will roll with Norman and Simeon Thomas as depth cornerbacks Sunday.
Colvin signed a contract with the Redskins on Friday, Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post reports.
The Redskins need reinforcements in the secondary with Quinton Dunbar (knee) deemed questionable and Fabian Moreau (ankle) listed as doubtful for Sunday's game versus the Cowboys. Colvin brings plenty of experience to the table, as he was a strong slot corner for the Jaguars in 2017. However, he struggled with the Texans last season and was a liability in coverage for them Week 1 versus the Saints, leading to his release from the team. It's unclear what role Colvin will have on the Redskins' defense, but with so many injuries he may be immediately plugged into a starting role.
