Born in Senegal, Gueye moved to the United States in high school to play at Prolific Prep Academy in California before playing for two years at Washington State. He averaged 14.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 0.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks during his sophomore season for the Cougars.
