Bryce McGowens (ribs) is out for Sunday’s game against the Lakers.
McGowens, who’s on a two-way contract, will miss Sunday’s season finale with a fractured rib. His absence does not impact fantasy basketball but ensures that Rayan Rupert plays extended minutes off the bench.
Bryce McGowens had 12 points (5-of-9 FGs), one rebound, one assist, two steals and two 3-pointers in Team G League’s 40-39 victory over Team M in the Rising Stars Challenge on Friday.
McGowens had 12 points and two 3-pointers including the game-winning shot in Team G League’s first round upset of Team M in the Rising Stars Challenge Friday. The 22-year-old shooting guard plays for the Rip City Remix and is on a two-way contract with the Portland Trail Blazers. McGowens won’t have a path to fantasy value in the second half of this season, though.
According to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, McGowens is signing a two-way contract with Portland.
McGowens is benefitting from his strong summer league play. The 21-year-old wing was waived by the Hornets after averaging 24.5 points in a pair of exhibition games. Portland has too many young wings for him to be a legitimate fantasy asset next season, though.
Bryce McGowens led the Hornets with 29 points (9-of-17 FGs, 9-of-12 FTs), five rebounds, one assist, one steal and two triples in an 86-82 win over the Kings on Tuesday.
McGowens was waived by the Hornets just before Summer League, but his performance through their first two games may end up changing that. He is averaging 24.5 points per game while shoting 21-of-26 from the free throw line. McGowens played 59 games last season and even started a handful of games for Charlotte, but he was never much of a factor in fantasy hoops. It’s nice to see him play well, and it may earn him a contract for next season. However, there’s no reason to keep an eye on him in fantasy basketball.
