Jalen Duren amassed 16 points (7-of-10 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), eight rebounds and three assists in 32 minutes in Thursday’s Game 3 loss to the Knicks.
Duren’s stat line was not as robust as it was in Detroit’s Game 2 victory, but the third-year center has played well thus far. He shot 70 percent from the field and finished two rebounds shy of a double-double in Game 3, but foul trouble cut into Duren’s minutes slightly during the second half. Paul Reed once again assumed the backup center role with Isaiah Stewart (knee) out, and he recorded four points, eight rebounds and one block in 16 minutes. Duren and Reed will remain in Detroit’s big man rotation if Stewart is unable to play in Game 4 on Sunday.
Jalen Duren posted a full line on Monday with 12 points (3-of-4 FGs, 6-of-6 FTs), 13 rebounds, two assists, one steal and three blocks against the Knicks in Game 2.
Duren played 25 minutes in Game 1, but with Isaiah Stewart (knee) sidelined for Game 2, Duren’s minutes ballooned to 37, with Paul Reed playing the other 11 minutes at center. Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff couldn’t play Duren all 48 minutes, but he isn’t going to rely on Reed unless he absolutely has to. If Stewart remains out for Game 3 on Thursday in Detroit, Duren should once again play the majority of the center minutes for the Pistons.
Jalen Duren had 11 points (5-of-9 FGs), 16 rebounds, five assists and one block against the Bucks on Friday.
Jalen Duren shot 8-of-8 from the field in Thursday’s win over the Knicks, tallying 16 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 26 minutes.
